Werner Horvath: "War and Peace"
(left outer part).

This is a part of a composition, which was created by Werner Horvath
from 1992
to 2005 with some minor changes in 2010. It consists of 100 paintings,
oil on canvas, each of them 50 x 40 cm in
size. The paintings fit together like a puzzle and in this way new
motives are
formed. You find the "icons" of the 20th and the beginning 21st
century, dealing with politics, society, philosophy and art, and also
the big
events of our time, starting with WW II and ending with the war against
terrorism. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the pictures.
In this particular part of the composition (above) you can see
a snake and
two figures, covering their eyes with their hand - a symbol for the
loss of
paradise.
